I can't wait to see it on October 2nd! I still have some money left in my pocket and I will save it for this movie!

My thoughts on "Your Journal - Your Money"...
Bishounen Nerd

... Why the hell should I have to pay $19.95/year just to put Google ads on my journal!? The moment that I'm writing this, I don't even think anyone is reading this journal. Even if it was pay-per-lead, it wouldn't even work! So why would I want to invest $19.95/year in a system that I could potentially lose money on!? Seriously, I have Google adsense ads on my Webs.com page, and even THOSE aren't making any money! And I've been writing in that one for a long time before I came here! If you want to check it out, anyway, here it is: bishounennerd.webs.com. Honestly, why can't they just do this free of charge? If you think you have a good answer, leave a comment, I want to know why they decided to have us pay for the service...

"King Corn"

Today in Sociology class, I watched this movie called "King Corn". It's a documentary film about the corn industry in America, and was recorded in a town in Iowa (Greene, IA, I think.) Anyway, Terrance & Curtis did an expose on the agricultural process of America. According to this movie, the use of weed killers in our crops is causing fields of genetically-modified corn to become inedible. What makes the least sense about this is that these farmers don't even farm to feed themselves. It's all about the bottom line. One guy said he didn't care about what happened to his crops, he just wanted to sell them. To me, that defeats the whole purpose of farming.

Not only that, but this "inedible" corn is used as cattle feed, since it makes cows fatter faster, and they keep these cattle cooped-up so they can't move around, which makes them gain even more weight. It used to be the case that cows would graze pastures and eat grass. However, what the corn feed is doing is giving these cows "acidosis", a condition that, if not treated, could prove fatal. But then they just butcher the cattle, anyway, and it doesn't really matter to them.

Finally, another highlight I want to point out is the scene where they're making high-fructose corn syrup in their kitchen. The process involved Sulfuric Acid, among other things, which was labeled with the word "harmful" all over it. I don't know about you, but I wouldn't want to eat anything that is potentially harmful to the human body.

So, in conclusion, I urge you to go and see this movie! Here's a clip from the movie on Youtube; www.youtube.com/watch. If you can find this at your local library or can find it somewhere else, I strongly recommend it!

Speaking of which, I want to recommend another movie to you guys: "Super Size Me". If you haven't seen this great movie, click this link; www.youtube.com/watch.

This and "King Corn" are great movies if you are interested in the U.S.A.'s obesity problem, or the issue of genetically-modified crops.

My job search so far...

So yeah, I wrote down how I was going for that interview. Well, it was for a job setting up home displays, and informing people about the benefits of air purifiers. I know what you might be thinking, another sales job, right? Well, from what I understand, it actually isn't. It seems the people we visit actually REQUESTED a home demonstration anyway, so we're not being intrusive or anything. Which is fine by me. However, I called them back, and they said something along the lines of "You qualified for the job, but all the positions are filled, so we're keeping your name on file." Well, I'm not going to wait for them to call me back. I have a new lead. It's a mail room job, so I'm probably going to be doing mail sorting and heavy lifting and such. I sent the resume out this afternoon, and by now it's probably headed to it's destination. And the best part is I wrote the resume as soon as I saw the job notice, so I'll be among one of the first people they'll look at. That's an empowering thought right there. Also, I wrote a pretty damn good resume, too, because I got feedback from some people I know, so they offered me advice on how to make it better. So, after that was done, I thought about riding out on a bike to mail out the envelope, but it would have been to hard to get out, seeing as uncle John's car was in the garage, and he's staying for the week. So, instead, I walked there. I would say it's about a 2-mile walk there and back, so I was pretty winded when I got back home. Anyway, yeah, the application is out, and I'm hoping this is the time when my period of unemployment ends.

And another thing happened, too. The U.S. Census Bureau called me. They asked if I wanted to be considered for a Census job if one is open this spring. So I told them I'm interested. But I need to get a job sooner, someone out there needs my help. She's the reason I'm making my move now...

IMPORTANT! IF YOU ARE USING PTR OR PTC SITES, PLEASE READ!

I just discovered this awesome site where you can submit complaints about scam PTR or PTC sites! It's called "GPTBoycott"! The mission is to have as many people in these programs submit any complaints if a PTR or PTC doesn't pay up. Then, it gets added to their "boycott" list. That means advertisers will refuse to advertise on their sites, and the aim is to shut these sites down. So, what are you waiting for? Check it out!

I've got an interview tomorrow!
Bishounen Nerd

I called a company that I found in the local newspaper on the phone just a moment ago, and guess what? I told them I'd be coming in for an interview tomorrow at 5:00 PM! And the job I called for pays $11.95/hour! I can't wait, man, I mean, my days of being unemployed may finally be coming to an end, so stay tuned and wish me luck, everyone! And my folks said that if I get a job, they'll take me to take the test! I may get my license and ownership of the old family car! ZING!

What do I do?

So, I've been talking to this woman online by the name of Liz Owen. She was someone I met in art class back in ECC, and I decided I really like her and all that. Well, we got around to talking, and so my emotions that I've been bottling up for the past 4-5 years finally exploded, and I confessed that I had this crush on her. But suddenly, just yesterday, I got an e-mail from her, and she said that I should move in with her and find a job so I could help her pay rent.

I can't believe what I was hearing! She said she wanted me to move in with her! This could be the chance to finally fulfill the crush that I have on her! But, here's the problem... I live all the way out in Farley, Iowa, (Much to my dismay) and she lives over in St. Charles, Illinois, the place where I grew up. What's worse, I don't know how much time I have to help her, and currently I have classes that I want to follow through with. It would take until winter to complete them! What's more, without a drivers license, there's no way I can cross over the Mississippi river, and I'm pretty much stuck here until I can find a job.

So, I'm trying desperately to concoct a plan that will suit both of our needs. I'm thinking what I'm going to do is while I'm taking classes, I'll try to see if I can find any leads on an entry-level full-time job doing a work from home job and get employment form them. This way, I don't have to drop it when I move out, like I did when I was forced to leave Goodwill. I could take this job with me wherever I go. I have only a desktop computer, and proficiency in MSOffice, due to a computer aptitude course I took back here. That way, I can get my job here, and that will finally convince my parents to finally let me take the test. If I pass, I can get my drivers' license and my parents will turn over the deed to their 1992 Toyota Camry to me, for which I will be paying insurance (which is the whole reason they aren't letting me take it now.) Then, I'm thinking of getting a student loan or financial aid, so that I can afford to pay for college when I go back to ECC.

Speaking of work from home jobs, however... I tried contacting someone on Craigslist for one. I contacted someone in Chicago. It seemed too good to be true, they promised free training, and $500-$600 a week. So I asked them a few questions. I got the reply this morning, in the form of a short message, written in bold, all-caps letters:

"I WAS SCAMMED.  DON'T DO THIS.  SORRY"

There goes that idea. So, anyway, my next move is to see my counselor in college, Chris Entringer, and ask him about possible telecommuting jobs. In the meantime, I need to study, a friend of mine from St. Charles is coming to pay me a visit, so I won't have the weekend to study like I usually do. That's all for now.

I just got $10.11 from MyLot!

It took A LOT of posting on my part, but I finally reached minimum payout! And guess what!? I finally got my $10.11! I know, it's not much, but still, every little bit helps at this point. Now, what I need to do is invest this money. However, that isn't the point of this post. What I'm trying to say is yes, MyLot is a legitimate way to make money online. It's not very much money, but if you know how, you can make it work for you. The premise is simple: These guys pay you to post nearly anything that's on your mind. How much you get paid depends on the quality of your post, but it's usually only 1¢-2¢. However I have found out a really neat trick to making more money off of it...

The trick is, if you keep a discussion going, and it gets a bunch of replys, MyLot pays you very well for those. So if you can, avoid posting new posts, unless it's absolutely necessary. Best to reply to other peoples' replies and maximize your earnings. Whatever you do, DO NOT mention this on MyLot, it is against the ToS to discuss their payout methods on their site.

So, if you need a little extra money, check it out! Here's my referral link: http://www.mylot.com/?ref=BishounenNerd

You need a Paypal account to be able to get paid, too, but it's very easy to sign up for, and all you need is a bank account or credit card. I hope to see you there!

Even here...

I remember when I used to go to St. Charles North, there was this one kid... I think his name was Joe... He was a member of the football team... Anyway, I remember him telling me for the first time that the people I thought were my friends were laughing at me from behind my back. The thing about me is I'm one of those people who lacks subtlety; I'll speak my mind, and usually I hold no quarters (Usually... Sometimes you HAVE to keep a secret, but I find that that is rarely the case.) Well, I used to hang out with preps... I know, I, who used to dress in all-black clothing, hung out with preps! But after he said that, I knew those guys weren't my friends. They were jerks. And I remember this one guy... He was kinda like I am now, long-ish hair, and wore black clothing (Not the exact same kind, but very similar. I'm very different in that I like to be unique, or I feel like I "vanish" and lose my identity, effectively becoming a carbon-copy, a clone of sorts of the millions of Americans here, if you get what I'm saying...) Anyway, he was one of the only people who stood up for me. I guess now that I look back, maybe I wanted to be like him - taking shit from no one.

... But I digress. This morning, after my Intro to Sociology class, some guy named Ben (I didn't know that until after I talked to him) brought it to my attention that people in back of me were laughing at me, because I always seemed to have something to say regarding the subject he was teaching. He said he didn't know if he should bring it up. Well, I'm actually glad he brought it up, and I thanked him, telling him I was glad he was being honest with me. You see, this guy reminded me of Joe... When everyone else was being an asshole, he was one of the few people who was honest with me. But even so, this isn't high-school, this is college. People are supposed to be SMART! I bet half the ones who laugh are the ones that would rather go shopping for the latest trendy pair of shoes than attend class.

Which reminds me of back when I was still a web programming major (Last semester.) For all the times people are told to turn off their cellphones in class, there's always some guy who just ignores what they say and leave their cellphones on, disrupting everyone who is trying to study. Well, one day, when I was taking some courses teaching people how to become skilled in Microsoft Office (Which carried over to my AS major, hilariously enough,) the problem got so bad that Mrs. Oberbroeckling lost it! She stood in front of the class and just started going on a tyrade about how people were being disrespectful about others' study environment by allowing disruptions like that to occur. And she's right! That's exactly what it's about; respect! It's rude to leave your cellphone on in class because some people have a hard time studying unless it's quiet (Other's can listen to music, though, which is cool. At least if they have headphones it's not disruptive.) But I mean, unless they REALLY needed it on, there's no reason to keep it on. Don't get me wrong, though, I don't dislike cellphones, except for the fact that they have been known to cause brain tumors. If technology could find a way to fix that flaw, then they would be awesome. You know, kinda like plasma T.V.s don't emit X-Rays like console T.V.s do...

Scam PTR sites
Bishounen Nerd
bishounennerd
Here's the story: Recently I've been exploring PTR sites, that is, sites that pay you to read e-mails containing advertising content. The point of them is that you gain a certain amount of whatever they make and you have to reach a "minimum payout balance" in order to receive the money you earn from them. Lately, one of them, www.promails.org, has been giving me nothing but trouble. I reached over $10,000 and they still refused to give me the amount of money that I earned, so I contacted them saying that if they didn't send me my money within 48 hours, I would launch a smear campaign against them. I was a little bit late, but I kept my promise. Also, to any similar sites, if you do the same thing, YOUR name will end up on this list! You have been warned... Here are the sites that I have found to be scams:

www.promails.org: I reached the minimum payout requirement of this site, and whenever I clicked on the "request payout" button, it would say that I didn't have the required amount of money to request payment. I contacted them asking why I couldn't receive my payment, but they never got back to me. I got fed up with them and said that if they didn't send me my money within 48 hours, I would tell everyone I knew that they were a scam site. I was somewhat late, but I kept my promise. I will tell all my friends to read this to get it noticed.

I will add more if I find any more. Also, note that I only list sites that don't require money to join, what I intend to do is save you time, and to make the scam sites lose face.
